Art That Leads Me Forward

Hello! I’m Polina Yermolayeva.

My hand never stops reaching for a pencil, and my eyes are always searching for beauty in the grey everyday life. I constantly draw and dream about how many corners of the world could be filled with art and how it could warm people’s hearts.

My path in art began back in kindergarten, when I couldn’t stop painting with watercolors while waiting for my parents to pick me up. The teachers suggested I continue with it, and so, at the age of 6, I entered art school. That’s how my journey into the creative world began.

Later, I graduated from the Jelgava Art School. Along the way, I attended countless clubs, drawing lessons with artist Uldis Roga (who had once taught my mother), and gathered a long list of creative hobbies.

Then I enrolled in the Jānis Rozentāls Art High School, where I obtained an education in illustration with a specialization in graphics. From there, my challenging but deeply personal journey into a creative profession began.

I was born and raised in Jelgava, where I lived for more than 20 years. This city inspires me with its transformations, and that’s why I increasingly wanted to capture its beauty and the surrounding landscapes on canvas. That’s how my first exhibition came to life, followed by this website.

I believe that if we take the time to get to know our surroundings and the stories of the places around us (in my case, capturing moments of these places on canvas), they begin to speak to us differently. Then we see our surroundings in completely new, more vibrant colors. Everything around us gains meaning. We begin to feel life more deeply and richly.

So, I invite you as well – go out, explore your surroundings, and listen to the stories that are hidden all around you! ♥
